Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident toall. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayerand petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We often think of peace as a circumstantial tool, something to strive for but not something that is always present and available to us. Instead, maybe we should look at peace as a defensive tool; something that will guard our hearts and minds, like the above passage indicates.
So often we experience spiritual attacks from the enemy that come in the form of anxiety, fear or embarrassment (just to name a few). But we are called to use peace to defend ourselves against those attacks. Peace is our strongest tool to gain freedom from these things, and it is always available to us if we seek it.
