God Before Possessions Notes • We are God’s stewards, everything is on loan to us. • We smother possessions. God gives us freedom with them. • Riches are deceitful. • Everything visible is passing away, fleeting, temporal. • Wrong thinking: Give to God and get twice as much back. • Approaching possessions as “taking care of them for God” requires wisdom. • Don’t let possessions ruin relationships. • Closer principle, what do you use, what do you not use? • True conversion; give up possessions, de-accumulate. • God is not poor. • Church does one thing, we do another. • We very seldom put ourselves in position to fail. • God provides • Wealth creates the illusion of independence • God’s Attitude --Security comes from knowing God. --Possessions are a result of grace, not a cause of security. --Stewardship on loan from God. --Riches are deceitful. --Riches can become God. --Once we see things God’s way we can submit to Him and His provision. |
